Coronavirus Update

Arriving for your appointment - When you arrive, contact us via phone (419-882-1017) to confirm your arrival. A Smile team member will greet you at your car. We ask that only the patient come inside the office if possible. A parent or guardian may accompany the patient if age, maturity, or other factors would compromise treatment if seen alone.  

Appointment Additions - Inside the office, screening questions will be asked (cough, fever, contact history, travel) and your temperature will be taken. You may be asked to reschedule if risk factors are identified. You will be asked to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer “up to your elbow” if in short sleeves.  

During your appointment- You will see increased use of protective equipment. Expect a face shield over the mask and eye protection. You may notice enhanced use of suction to reduce aerosols and reduced use of handpieces (drills).

Checking out- A Smile team member will once again ask you to use hand sanitizer and escort you to the exit. Please call to schedule your next visit immediately so that you have as many time choices as possible.

TREATMENT CONSENT:  Please be assured that our office has always met or exceeded the requirements set forth for sterilization, disinfection, and infection control from the CDC and the relevant state agencies. However, it is possible to contract COVID-19 infection and other communicable diseases in any public space. HLS Orthodontics has implemented socially distanced appointment scheduling, pre-screening for fever and other risk factors, and added to our already robust infection control procedures. However, due to the nature of orthodontic treatment, social distance is not possible between the patient and HLS clinic team. Exposure to communicable disease is unlikely but possible. Attending your scheduled appointment will be considered consent.
