3D Scanning and Digital Impressions

Ongoing advances in technology have made it possible to improve predictability and outcomes in orthodontic treatment. At HLS Orthodontics, we utilize the latest technology to provide accurate orthodontic treatment and create well-fitting appliances. This advanced technology ensures our patients receive the best in care and experience optimal outcomes.

We use the latest in 3D intraoral scanners to take highly precise digital impressions of your teeth and jaw. A 3D scan eliminates the need to take alginate or PVS impressions, which are often less accurate and more uncomfortable than digital impressions.

The 3D scanner digitally captures the structure of your teeth and gums through a small, hand-held, and radiation-free wand. From the digital impressions the 3D scanner captures, we can create a model of your teeth to map out your entire treatment plan.

3D scanners are extremely beneficial when determining treatment plans for

  • Invisalign®
  • Surgical casts
  • Complex cases

The information from the 3D scanner can also create well-fitting appliances, such as a palatal expander or a retainer.

Because the 3D scanner works digitally, the results are instant. The digital impressions of your teeth and bite created using this technology mean that there is less wait time to receive custom appliances if they are created and shipped from an outside laboratory. Instead, the lab will receive all the information they need the same day. We have also found that younger patients do much better with a scan than they do with traditional impressions.

3D Scanners and Digital Impressions

Digital impressions allow us to plan every step of your treatment in advance to achieve the best result possible. Your care is our top priority, and we are always working to ensure that your orthodontic treatment is as simple and painless as possible. Because we believe in a better patient experience, we provide digital impressions at no additional cost.
