A key component for experiencing optimal orthodontic results is following the instructions given to you. It's important to maintain certain dietary and hygiene habits to ensure your orthodontic appliance remains clean, healthy, and does not break. Whether you have traditional braces, lingual braces, a palate expander, or another appliance, it's important to follow the instructions given to you so you can have a positive treatment experience.
Your instructions will vary depending on the treatment and/or appliance you received at our office. If you have braces or lingual braces, brushing and flossing are key to maintaining your oral health, but you also need to follow more specific tips for cleaning and diet. If you have Invisalign® aligners, your hygiene habits will be easier and require less special care. It's important for you to review all the instructions pertinent to your specific treatment to ensure you understand how to care for yourself properly. Please contact our office with any questions.
